Thermodynamic properties of polydisperse fluid mixtures

We present a systematic study of the thermodynamic properties of a polydisperse fluid mixture. The size of the particles, σ , is assumed to be distributed according to a continuous distribution function fΣ(σ) , for which we have chosen a Γ -distribution. The interatomic potentials are given by a hard core repulsion plus an adjacent attractive tail in the form of a squarewell or a Yukawa potenti...

Polydisperse fluid mixtures of adhesive colloidal particles

We investigate polydispersity effects on the average structure factor of colloidal suspensions of neutral particles with surface adhesion. A sticky hard sphere model alternative to Baxter’s one is considered. The choice of factorizable stickiness parameters in the potential allows a simple analytic solution, within the “mean spherical approximation”, for any number of components and arbitrary s...

A Thermomechanical Theory of Solid-Fluid Mixtures

Motivated by Rivlin's ideas on the thermomechanics of continuous media, we state the second law of thermodynamics in two parts and apply it to study the behavior of a mixture of an elastic solid and a viscous fluid.

Dynamic Effects in Gradient Theory for Fluid Mixtures

We propose a new method to study motions of mixtures in fluid interfaces. We extend the equations of equilibrium in interfaces and the results associated with traveling waves for van der Waals like fluids [21]. Maxwell rule is extended to interfaces of fluid mixtures out of equilibrium. Formulae like Clapeyron relation are obtained for isothermal layers.
